During the offseason, I thought that Justin Durant’s price tag would make him expendable given the Cowboys’ salary cap woes, but he has been instrumental in the Cowboys’ turnaround on defense. He has developed into one of the more consistent players on the defense, and it showed on Sunday against the Texans. In fact, he has yet to miss a tackle this season.

I think that J.J. Wilcox is starting to turn into the player that the Cowboys thought they were getting when he was drafted. I say that because on several occasions, Wilcox came up big on Sunday. Had he not made some crucial stops, maybe the outcome of the game isn’t what it was.

Aside from Rolando McClain, I don’t think another newcomer has had a bigger impact on the Cowboys defense. Mincey appears to have bought into what Rod Marinelli is selling, and it shows on the field. He’s second on the team behind Tyrone Crawford in quarterback hits and hurries with two and 10 respectively.

For as good as DeMarco Murray has been this season, it’s evident now that he has a fumbling problem. The Cowboys would be wise to address this problem as he is projected to lose an unheard of 14 fumbles.

One, and possibly the most important, thing we learned about this Cowboys team in Week 5 is that they are resilient. They just don’t quit, and that, as a Cowboys fan, is refreshing.
