New York Jets QB Geno Smith Facing Moment Of Truth In Week 6

It seems like everyone in New York wants quarterback Geno Smith to be benched. While many fans are calling for his demotion, from a football point of view, it’s in the best interest of the New York Jets to stick with Smith under center. Eventually, it will reveal whether or not he is worth investing in or if the Jets need to head back to the drawing board about their future quarterback situation.

Playing some of the worst football anyone has seen as of late, Smith has been flat-out terrible. He rushes his passes, makes poor decisions on the field, and has been throwing interceptions like there is no tomorrow. He played so out of sync against the San Diego Chargers that the Jets had to pull him out at the half. Backup quarterback Michael Vick didn’t look good at all either, but even on the sidelines, Smith must no doubt feel defeated and knows his tenure on the team might be coming to an end.

Despite one of the worst games he’s had in his career, the Jets are making the right choice to stick with him in their upcoming Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. Smith will either adjust his mentality and play accordingly, or continue to sink deeper into this hole. Keeping him in there will either continue his progression or begin his transition out of the team.

Everyone knows it’s not easy being a starting quarterback in the NFL, let alone being one in the media capital of the world. That said, Smith’s future should be decided by what he does on the field, and it looks as though the Jets will at least give him that.
