Week 6 Matchup: San Diego Chargers (4-1) vs. Oakland Raiders (0-4)
TV Schedule: Sunday, Oct. 12, 4:05 p.m. ET, CBS
Stadium: O.co Coliseum
Line: San Diego (-7.5)
If you were to look at records and nothing else, you would probably come to the conclusion that the San Diego Chargers are better than the Oakland Raiders. Well, you would be 100 percent correct.
Not only has San Diego been a top team in the NFL, but QB Philip Rivers has been making one heck of a case for MVP as well. Add in a defense that has only allowed 63 points so far, and you have a legit Super Bowl contender.
Now, the season is still early, but when it comes to this matchup, the Chargers should have no problem coming away with the W.
Let’s just put it this way: Oakland has scored a total of 51 points this season, while San Diego has scored 133 points. Needless to say, things haven’t really been clicking on the offensive side of the ball for the Raiders, whether if we are talking about the passing or running game.
With that said, Oakland is only allowing 207 passing yards per game (fifth best in the NFL). However, San Diego has been even better (194.8 passing yards per game, second best).
Given the fact that the Chargers are coming off of a 31-0 beating of the New York Jets, I really don’t see how they would lose this game. The Raiders are coming off of a bye and will be playing at home, so that could help some, but it will not lead them to a victory.
PREDICTION: Chargers 28, Raiders 10
