New York Jets Must Channel Rage To Pull Week 6 Upset
Pretty sure by now, members of a certain green and white football team are probably pretty upset at the moment. You see, when you lose as poorly as the New York Jets did to the San Diego Chargers, it can be a pivotal moment in the season that sparks some serious anger. The kind of rage that gets everyone worked up, because they know they are better than what the results are showing on paper.
It’s embarrassing to get beaten 31-0 and that type of loss usually leaves everyone on the team pretty bitter. All offseason long, the Jets were bragging about how they would have a top rushing attack and a stellar defense that could hold its own against the best opponents coming their way. All those hopes went up in smoke so far this season, as the Jets are 1-4 and are looking pretty pathetic as of late.
Head coach Rex Ryan is literally playing for his job security just as much as quarterback Geno Smith is doing the same for his starting spot. The Jets need a win bad and just when they need it most, they are facing one of the top teams in the Denver Broncos. While many predict quarterback Peyton Manning to throw for at least 10 touchdowns in this against a terrible Jets’ defensive secondary, don’t count this team out just yet.
Don’t be shocked if the Jets pull the biggest upset of the season by stunning the Broncos at home in front of their devoted (and raging) fans. Ryan is a defensive mastermind and quite honestly, if anyone can help draw up a strong enough defensive gameplan against one of the best quarterbacks playing today, it’s him.
If the Jets come up with a potent ground-and-pound offense illustrating the strengths that running back Chris Ivory has, they could dominate the battle of the trenches. Smith can actually redeem himself this season by having a huge game against the Broncos and of course, the Jets’ defense must come together and play flawlessly. If they can do enough man-to-man coverage and keep it close against the Broncos, they can leave the field victorious.
Perhaps this could all be wishful thinking or maybe, just maybe, the Jets have had just about enough of this nonsense and want to send a strong message that they actually want to win. Sometimes if you dig deep enough and channel some rage due to frustration and disappointment, you could surprise the masses with the talent you had all along to finally deliver.
Hopefully for the Jets, they find that this coming weekend and start playing like they truly want to succeed.
