Seattle Seahawks Send Message To NFL That This is Anyone’s Season

Coming off a bye, playing at home, with multiple turnovers to garner momentum, the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks could have sent a message to the rest of the league. They did, but it wasn’t the one they wanted to and they have their offense to blame.

Credit to the Dallas Cowboys. They overcame plenty of adversity to win one of the biggest games in the last five years for their franchise. They dominated both sides of the line in the toughest place to play in the NFL. Tony Romo played perfect football (aside from a fumble that wasn’t his fault), and DeMarco Murray continued his incredible season. Icing on the cake came during a scrum in which Dez Bryant played peacemaker.

That being said, this game was about Seattle. Their offense, led by Russell Wilson, played terribly. The play-calling was obscenely conservative, yet Marshawn Lynch only carried the ball a handful of times. That will need to be fixed, and quickly, if they can want to be considered favorites to get out of the insanely-tough NFC. It’s almost impossible to repeat as champions in the NFL, and Sunday proved why.

The San Diego Chargers laid the blueprint for beating Seattle. You can bet the house teams have that tape stored and ready to go. Pete Carroll will need to readjust to that pressure, and his top priority has to be getting more out of the quarterback.

Sunday afternoon was the opportunity for the Seahawks to let everyone know why most thought they would repeat. Only on a Sunday afternoon in Seattle, it was the Cowboys that sent the overriding narrative: There is no Super Bowl favorite.
