Top 5 NFL Coaches On The Hot Seat After Week 6

This 2014 NFL season has been full of action both on and off the field. Many scandals, injuries, arrests and entertaining games later, five NFL head coaches are in serious danger of losing their jobs in the near future. Whether it be due to their teams underperforming, poor leadership or a blatant lack of talent, these coaches are definitely on the hottest of seats.

For those of you scratching your heads wondering where Rex Ryan ranks, here he is as an honorable mention. I purposely excluded him from this list for two reasons: First, GM John Idzik evidently did a very poor job of constructing a capable NFL team; second, Jets owner Woody Johnson has publicly expressed his love for Ryan in the past. At this point in time, there is simply no way Ryan will be fired. Idzik will be the fall man.

When Gus Bradley accepted the job to become the Jacksonville Jaguars' head coach, he was clearly aware that this rebuilding process would be extended over a lengthy period of time. The Jaguars rank in the bottom third of every major statistical area both offensively and defensively, including total passing yards and rushing yards. This team is an absolute embarrassment.

Surprisingly, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were considered to be a dark horse competitor prior to the start of the 2014 season. This now-laughable expectation was primarily based off of Tampa Bay's defensive prowess, as well as Lovie Smith's presence as a trusted leader in the locker room. However, this could not have been further from reality, as the Buccaneers rank in the bottom half defensively, allowing 45-plus points in two games already.

Dating back to 2013, the Atlanta Falcons have vastly underachieved considering the prior success that they had experienced. The former Super Bowl contenders have plummeted to rock bottom with no clear plan of picking themselves back up. Offensively, quarterback Matt Ryan has played very well, but Atlanta has suffered in every other facet of the game. A change must be made, and I would expect it to occur very soon if things don't turn around.

In an extremely weak AFC East division, Miami was finally expected to eclipse the New England Patriots as the division leader, but obviously that couldn't be any further from the results through six weeks. Miami (2-3) sits at third behind the Buffalo Bills, and are just one win ahead of the catastrophe called the New York Jets. Joe Philbin is in serious danger of getting axed.

Quite possibly the worst team next to the Jacksonville Jaguars has undoubtedly been the Tennessee Titans under the leadership of head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Tennessee's offense has found little production, leading to a humiliating 17.3 points per game compared to the 25.5 that they allow defensively. The Titans began the season 1-4, but luckily escaped Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars 16-14 to improve to 2-4.
