The Denver Broncos are trying to repeat as AFC Champs this season and have gotten off to a great start with a 4-1 record to this point. With Denver’s only loss coming to the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, the Broncos are proving that they’re still the class of the AFC. Here are five reasons why Denver is the best team in their conference.

If you plan to be a dominant team in the NFL, your team needs a good O-line up front. Denver has one of the best in the league, and it’s the part of their high-octane offense that gets overlooked. The Broncos have a couple of former Pro-Bowlers on their line and the unit has worked together very well. The O-line is a big reason Denver’s averaging 389 yards of offense per game and also a reason that the Broncos are the best in the AFC.

It started with the big guys up front, and next it’s the guys who make the plays. Denver’s offense boasts an amount of talent that few teams can match. The likes of Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and Wes Welker are hard to stop at once. Then you add in Emmanuel Sanders’ breakout season and there are dangerous weapons all over the field. It’s a high-powered offense that’s the best in the AFC when they’re on their game.

When you think of the Broncos, the offense comes to mind first, but Denver has a very strong defense as well. Of course there are the standouts like DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller and Aqib Talib, but the whole defense plays well together. Denver’s defense is currently ranked second in the AFC, and when coupled with that dangerous offense of theirs, the Broncos are very difficult to slow down.

2. Red Zone Efficiency

While any team can have a good offense, some teams have trouble punching the ball in from the red zone. Denver is not one of them. The Broncos are tied for the league lead in red zone efficiency with a 75 percent touchdown rate and have averaged 2.5 red zone touchdowns per game. It’s an important aspect of the game and the Broncos do it better than anyone.

Last Super Bowl taught us that nobody can do it alone, not even Manning, but he's still the No. 1 reason the Broncos are the class of the AFC. He has more offensive weapons than almost every QB in the league, but he brings the best out of all his teammates. The players around Manning play hard for him and his winning mentality spreads throughout the locker room. Denver may have a great roster, but they aren't the best in the AFC without No. 18.
