As the second half of the season gets underway, time is running out for draft-eligible prospects to leave an impression. Week 8 boasts several matchups between potential early-round picks. Here are five of the battles to watch this week.

5. LSU OT La'el Collins vs. Kentucky DE Alvin Dupree

Last week, La'el Collins matched up against Dante Fowler of the Florida Gators. The Gators relied on stunts to confuse the LSU line and sack QB Anthony Jennings four times. Like Florida, Kentucky has multiple NFL talents on the defensive line. Foremost is Alvin Dupree, who leads Kentucky in sacks and QB hits this season. Since Kentucky moves linemen around, Collins will also see plenty of Za'Darius Smith. Collins is likely a first-round pick.

4. Florida State WR Rashad Greene vs. Notre Dame CB Cody Riggs

In a matchup of top five teams, the battle between Greene and Riggs could have a major impact. Playing for FSU last season, Riggs did not allow Greene to use his speed to beat him deep. Greene finished with four catches for just 25 yards. Two weeks ago, Riggs held Stanford WR Ty Montgomery to 12 yards receiving. Riggs can improve on his late third-round grade with another strong performance this week. Greene could play his way into Round 1.

3. Indiana RB Tevin Coleman vs. Michigan State Run Defense

After gashing Iowa, the No. 7 run defense in the country, for 219 yards and three touchdowns, Indiana RB Tevin Coleman turns his focus to Michigan State. The Spartans are currently the fifth-best run defense in the nation and held Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah to 45 yards on 24 carries. Coleman is ranked just outside my top 100, while Michigan State has a trio of possible first-round defenders in Shilique Calhoun, Kurtis Drummond and Trae Waynes.

2. Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong vs. Stanford CB Alex Carter

It's hard to fathom how Eastern Michigan was the only FBS team to offer Jaelen Strong a scholarship out of high school. The Sun Devils' go-to WR has dominated the Pac 12 this season. In three Pac 12 games, Strong has 28 catches for 425 yards and four touchdowns. CB Alex Carter is the top cover corner on the nation's fourth best pass defense. Carter, who has a Round 4 grade, will be giving up almost four inches to Strong, who has a Round 2 grade.

Despite Oregon spreading out the field on offense, the real battle will take place in the trenches. On the left side of the line, Fisher takes on Kikaha. In the middle, Grasu battles Shelton. In the two games prior to last week, Oregon allowed 12 sacks. In Fisher's return, the Ducks allowed zero. Kikaha leads the nation with 10 sacks this year, while Shelton isn't far behind with seven. All four are likely to be drafted in the first four rounds.
