The No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, Sammy Watkins, faced huge expectations coming into his rookie season, and so far, he’s lived up to those expectations. Watkins has quickly become the Buffalo Bills‘ No. 1 receiver, and although he makes the occasional rookie mistake, he’s shown flashes of brilliance. Watkins could be the difference between a win or a loss for the Bills in Week 7, and he is the team’s x-factor.

Watkins has been absolutely dominant at times this season, and he has improved every week. Using his natural athleticism, Watkins is able exploit weaknesses in coverage, and the Bills’ switch from E.J. Manuel to Kyle Orton should make Watkins more of a consistent threat. With a capable quarterback at the helm, Watkins should continue to become an even bigger part of the Bills’ game plan. With Orton in charge of Buffalo’s offense, Watkins has taken his game to another level, and the Bills have to be happy about that.

Perhaps the one area Watkins has improved most since his time at Clemson is his route-running. He’s running his routes better than ever, and because of that, he’s getting separation from defenders and getting open faster. Considering he was considered a raw route-runner coming out of college, to see so much improvement so fast puts Watkins’ athletic ability on full display.

With that said, Sammy Watkins is the Bills’ most important player going into Week 7, and his play could really change the outcome of the whole contest. Watkins is clearly the Bills’ x-factor this week, and he has the talent to totally change Buffalo’s offense.
