In the fifth game of the Nevada Wolf Pack's 2007 season, starting quarterback Nick Graziano was lost to injury at the 8:23 mark of the second quarter. The team turned to Kaepernick, who stepped in and threw for 384 yards, four TDs and added another 60 yards on the ground, but the Wolf Pack lost 49-41.
