5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Peyton Manning

Ever wonder what Manning says when he's changing plays at the line of scrimmage? He uses a rare form of Gaelic which he learned from his older brother Cooper. To throw off even the smartest of defenders, he also uses food names, random cities and funny nicknames of his teammates.

Every single NFL game day, Manning always has the same meal before heading to the football field. He eats two pieces of grilled chicken, a bowl of pasta with marinara, a plain baked potato with a side of broccoli and a Gatorade. Whether it's a day or night game, this is his secret meal to success.

Manning originally wanted to wear the jersey No. 16 which was his college football number when entering the NFL. He changed it to the No. 18 as a tribute to his older brother Cooper as that was his number when he played as a wide receiver in college. Unfortunately, Cooper was diagnosed with a rare spinal disease and couldn't continue his dreams of playing in the NFL because of it.

All throughout this career, whenever Manning had the spotlight on him, he's always performed incredibly well for the most part. While many believe his best success comes from either Sunday or Thursday Night Football, he actually has his best stats on Monday Night Football. To date, he has 36 touchdowns when he plays on Monday nights!

Manning loves to understand, memorize and be able to break down offensive plays at any given notice. He is able to memorize over 300 new plays each year in addition to the ones he already knows down to specific assignments, blocking patterns and the exact routes his receivers must run. As clearly one of the smartest quarterbacks ever to play the game, his memory skills are truly amazing.
