5 Takeaways From New York Giants' Week 7 Loss

The New York Giants looked better against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday after getting blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Unfortunately, they still have a lot of problems that are holding them back from beating premier teams within the NFL right now. Let's go over my five takeaways from this week's loss to the Cowboys.

The Giants' offensive line played a lot better this week by giving Eli Manning more time to get the ball out. The problem is that they weren't able to get a great push to really establish the run and help out their passing offense.

One big reason the Giants had a hard time against the Cowboys is that they kept hurting themselves with bone-headed penalties. Whether it was too many men in the huddle or holding, they killed numerous offensive drives.

3. Victor Cruz is Missed

While Rueben Randle and Odell Beckham Jr. are good players, they're not Victor Cruz. I do believe Beckham will be better than Cruz at some point down the road, but you can only expect so much from a rookie. It was obvious that quarterback Eli Manning really missed one of his favorite targets.

2. Pass Rush

The Giants' pass rush is still a problem. Jason Pierre-Paul is having an impact, but it's not enough. The rest of the line has been average as well when it comes to getting after the quarterback.

The Giants continue to hurt themselves with too many third-and-long situations. It seems to have to do with either penalties or running the ball and not getting anywhere. You can't be successful in the NFL when you put yourself in the position the Giants offense has over the past two weeks.
