Minnesota Vikings Need To Add Another Receiving Weapon

The risk with playing a rookie quarterback drafted high is that the team he is joining is so flawed that his addition alone isn’t enough to overcome those issues. Teddy Bridgewater joined a team that has struggled to score for as long as one can remember. If the Minnesota Vikings hope to get anything consistently from their rookie, they need to give him some help.

Coming into the year, the Vikings looked to have some capable weapons. The problem is Adrian Peterson hasn’t played in a month and Kyle Rudolph is still out. Cordarrelle Patterson is not the type of receiver who can overcome double coverages and Greg Jennings is old. Bridgewater needs someone who can take pressure off Patterson. Chances are that help won’t come this year, but that should be the top priority of Minnesota’s offseason.

With the rules of today’s NFL, the importance of a capable offense has never been higher. So long as the Vikings keep trotting out this mediocre crew, it’s hard to see them competing for the playoffs, let alone for championships. The NFC North is absolutely stacked with explosive teams; the Vikings need to catch up.

Bridgewater would go on to throw two more interceptions Sunday in a loss against the Buffalo Bills. The Vikings’ offense continues to produce any type of consistency, putting incredible pressure on the defense to be perfect. The Vikings have built their team from the inside out, focusing on both sides of the line, then defense and finally drafted their quarterback of the future. It’s time, now, to focus on giving him someone to throw to.
