Teams That Could Sign Michael Sam

Michael Sam was just released by the Dallas Cowboys and is now looking to continue his NFL career. The only question is where? Sam could be a skilled pass rusher, it just depends if he can get the opportunity to show what he can do. Here are some destinations that make the most sense for the pass rusher.

The biggest plus with the Bucs is that they suck and their season is over, so Sam could actually get a fair amount of playing time. For the Bucs, they have a chance to see if Sam could help the pass rush, which is currently tied for seventh worst in the league.

The Falcons are in dire need of a pass rush. That much is true. And like the Bucs, since their season is already in the dumps, Sam would get another good chance to get some field time, rather than sit on the practice squad for the year. And for Sam, if he stays in Atlanta next year, he'd be on a team that’s good, rather than stuck with the Bucs.

Obviously, the theme with all these teams will be a lack of pass rush, since that’s Sam’s calling card. Sam probably wouldn’t see the field with the Seahawks (unless he just destroys it in practice), but the Seahawks have a strong organization from top to bottom and would be a good home for Sam to hone his skill.

I've been wanting this since he was first released by the Rams. Since the draft actually. With Chandler Jones out for a month, the Patriots need a pass rusher and could see what Sam has. Also, the Patriots would be one of the best organizations for Sam to end up with purely from a media standpoint -- the Patriots kill media circuses for fun.

The Rams had him and let him go thinking that his rushing skills would be redundant. How the tables have turned. The Rams have the worst pass rush in the league, but know first hand what Sam can do. A reunion makes all the sense in the world.
