Chicago Bears Will Face Their Toughest Road Game In Week 8
No one expected the Chicago Bears to struggle this much at home this season. So far, the Bears are a disappointing 0-3 at Soldier Field. One could say their 3-1 road record is a good sign for their upcoming game in Week 8, but considering this matchup is against the New England Patriots, that could change the minds of many in a hurry.
Two of Chicago’s three road victories did come as a surprise. The Bears were considered underdogs when they faced the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons, but somehow proved many doubters wrong. However, this coming week will be a bit more challenging for the struggling Bears.
Not only is New England undefeated at Gillette Stadium so far this year, but having played a Thursday night game in Week 7, they have had more than enough time to prepare for this week’s contest against Chicago. This scenario would prove to give any team an advantage, but the fact Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady are the ones given this extra time to prepare should strike fear into the Bears and all of the fans in the Windy City.
The additional days of preparation couldn’t have come at a better time for New England. The Patriots were hit with two devastating season-ending injuries to linebacker Jerod Mayo and running back Stevan Ridley. Only time will tell if the Bears can take full advantage of the massive holes left in New England’s roster.
The drama in Chicago’s locker room after their loss in Week 7 could be the wakeup call the team needs to get things back on track. However, knowing Belichick and Brady, arguably the best coach-quarterback duo in the NFL, have had more time than the Bears to formulate a game plan, I’m leaning towards the Pats to come away with their fourth home win of the season.
