At 1-7 so far this season, the New York Jets need a lot of things to go right if they are to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. Take a look at five ways they can actually upset the Chiefs by sticking with these tried and true methods of playing successful football!

Last week against the Buffalo Bills, the Jets' defensive secondary allowed two big plays that pretty much sealed the deal of them losing the game. They allowed the Bills to get some serious yardage down the field by playing too much zone coverage and not enough man-to-man, it's easy to exploit with fast receivers. If the Jets want to beat the Chiefs, they must have their secondary go back to the tried and true method of man-to-man coverage.

In his Jets debut, wide receiver Percy Harvin wasn't anything spectacular but he showed glimpses of his potential with the team once he familiarizes himself with their playbook. Against the Chiefs, the Jets should play to Harvin's strengths and have him contribute as a receiver, running back and a special teams return specialist. He was brought in to help spark the Jets' offense and must be utilized heavily against the Chiefs.

3. Jets' Pass Rush Must Get To QB Alex Smith

If the Jets want to win this ever important matchup, they must bring the heat to quarterback Alex Smith. Even when dealing with a shoulder injury, Smith has the potential to really torch the Jets through the air if they don't get a good enough pass rush in. The Jets' defensive line must pressure him to make mistakes since so far this season, the Chiefs have been terrible when passing the football. The Jets must continue that pattern.

It's no secret that the premiere running back on the Jets is indeed Chris Ivory. If they want to open up some play-action plays in the game as well as control the game clock, it's imperative that the Jets stick to their ground-and-pound style of running the football. It worked very well in the past and the Jets should definitely give Ivory plenty of reps to get the tempo of the game going in the Jets favor.

Quarterback Michael Vick has been declared the Jets' starter and now has a golden opportunity to silence his critics. He absolutely should practice his heart out this week and get every key play needed to beat the Chiefs flawlessly down pat. If Vick has a solid mistake-free football game where he uses his veteran skills to keep those chains moving, the Jets can finally pull an upset and start heading into a better direction this season.
