Russell Wilson Is 2014 NFL MVP At Halfway Point
Amid the recent distractions that have surrounded the Seattle Seahawks, star quarterback Russell Wilson has quietly put together a great first half of the season and should be considered an NFL MVP candidate.
While the Seahawks defense has struggled at times this season and hasn’t been as dominant as they were during their 2013 Super Bowl run, Wilson has been steady for the most part. He hasn’t been perfect, but the only game Wilson has truly struggled in so far this season was during their close loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Despite the three losses the Seahawks suffered this season, Wilson has looked like an MVP caliber player. He was also very impressive during their wins over the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos. He proved that he had no problem with going toe to toe with the likes of Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers while coming out on top.
Wilson has currently thrown for 1,490 yards, 11 touchdowns, three interceptions with a quarterback rating of 98.1.
The great thing about Wilson is that no matter how well he’s played at times, he rarely turns the football over. He’s currently in the bottom of the league in interceptions, which is great.
The thing that takes Wilson over the top as an MVP candidate is that if opposing defenses take away the pass, he can beat them with his legs. When he runs, he does a great job of getting out of bounds or sliding to avoid absorbing a big hit.
The bottom line is that as good as the Seahawks are as a team, they’re only going to go as far as Wilson will take them.
