Baltimore Ravens Rumors: Dennis Pitta Could Be Forced To Retire

Dennis Pitta

USA Today Sports

After suffering a dislocated and fractured hip for the second consecutive year, Dennis Pitta‘s future in the NFL is very much in question. The Baltimore Ravens‘ tight end went down in Week 3 and had surgery the following day, but to this point, he’s been unable to start rehab.

Pitta recently spoke to the Baltimore Sun on his injury and current prognosis:

“It’s tough. I have to be patient right now, I have to let myself heal and take it one day at a time and begin my rehab and work hard doing that when I can. It’s a tough process and something, unfortunately, I have been through before and will get through again… In a few months, we’ll see how I’m feeling and how things are going, and we’ll be able to make some determinations then. It’s still too early to kind of tell, and I’ll continue on like I did last year and get myself ready to get back on the field.”

As of now doctors are not sure whether he’ll be able to continue his NFL career. Given that he suffered the same injury in back-to-back years, it really makes you wonder if Pitta’s body is set up for more action on the gridiron. Clearly, he has some sort of predisposition to hip injuries.

He and the Ravens will just have to continue being patient and hope for the best. But at this point, Pitta’s future health must be the No. 1 priority. He’s already made millions playing football, and there’s certainly no shame in walking away before something very serious/life-altering happens.
