Kansas City Chiefs Can Help City Move On From World Series
The best way to move on from a broken heart is to find love elsewhere. Kansas City is immensely grateful and proud of the Kansas City Royals for the incredible ride, but the people are still crushed from the heartbreaking Game 7 loss in the World Series.
The city was riding an unexpected, overwhelming high that ended with an awful hangover. There is always a rough patch for fans whose teams fall in championship games, but this was different. Kansas City fans haven’t seen the baseball playoffs in 29 years. They haven’t seen a Kansas City Chiefs playoff win in 20 years.
Only the Royals and Chiefs have the power to grab the entire city and break their hearts. Kansas City loves their college sports, but the people are divided between the Missouri Tigers, K-State Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks. Also, soccer support is growing around town, but there will never be citywide mourning for a Sporting KC loss. In fact, a lot of people don’t even realize they just exited the playoffs themselves.
The collective heart of the Kansas City area belongs to the Chiefs and Royals. Only they have the power to captivate, crush and heal the entire city. Since the Royals won’t be around until April, it’s on the Chiefs to start the healing this weekend.
The New York Jets bring one of the NFL’s biggest messes to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. This is the perfect opportunity to help the fan base move on. If the Chiefs can pull off the victory, the team will be sitting at 5-3 and in great position for a playoff run.
The Chiefs have come out of a brutal early schedule, and horrible stretch of injuries to become legitimate contenders in the AFC. If they can keep rolling on Sunday, it will help turn everybody’s attention to another possible playoff run.
While the World Series was painful, it’s a great time to be a Kanas City sports fan. There are competitive teams in college football, college basketball, the MLS, NFL and MLB. Right now, it’s time to move on to the other team the entire city can get behind.
