Prior to the kickoff of the Minnesota Vikings-Washington Redskins game in Minnesota, an estimated crowd of 5,000 protested over the Washington football team controversial nickname.

The #ChangeTheName protest started with a march through the campus of the University of Minnesota to TCF Bank Stadium, the home of the university’s football team and temporary home of the Vikings. Local politicians, former sports stars, and Native American Leaders spoke at the rally voicing their antipathy to the derogatory team name. This latest outcry against the Redskins is the biggest display of opposition to team owner Daniel Snyder’s refusal to change the team’s name.

Just when we thought the outcry towards the Redskins name had died down, the opposition comes back strong with another protest that gained national attention.
