Dallas Cowboys Would Be Foolish To Play Tony Romo Against Jacksonville Jaguars

Just like Week 9, the million dollar question surrounding the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10 involves Tony Romo‘s status. Will he or won’t he play with small fractures in his back? And just like last week, his status likely won’t be revealed until shortly before game time.

But Week 10 is different. The Cowboys aren’t playing a first place team. They’re playing one of the worst teams in the NFL. Even with Brandon Weeden under center, Dallas should have no trouble beating the Jacksonville Jaguars. That is, if they’re really the team everyone thought they were a couple weeks ago.

Clearly, the Cowboys are only going reach their full potential with Romo taking the snaps. But at way less than 100 percent, and with a chance that he could be further injured (possibly for the season) — what’s the point? Why even run him out there and chance making a hairy situation into a dire situation?

Week 10 is a test game for Dallas. If the team’s offensive line is really as good as everyone believes, if DeMarco Murray is really the best RB in football and if this team is truly a playoff contender — it should be able to escape London with a win, while letting Romo’s ailing back get the rest it so desperately needs.

As is the case nearly every season, the NFC East is still wide open. There’s just no reason to rush Romo back into action at this juncture. Once the must-wins start popping up, then maybe you roll the dice a bit. But the Jaguars in Week 10 is not a must-win situation, even though a loss would certainly sting.
