The NFL isn’t impressed by Adrian Peterson’s plea bargain.

After putting his legal matters behind him – and avoiding some jail time – the Minnesota Vikings running back applied to be immediately reinstated in hopes of playing in Week 11. The NFL, however, wasn’t having it, denying the request.

According to reports, the NFL wants more time to figure out what their plan is with Peterson moving forward. There’s a belief that the league might impose a larger suspension than the eight games Peterson has already missed for the Vikings this season.

Until a decision comes down from Roger Goodell, Peterson will remain on the commissioner’s exempt list, which allows for him to be paid but keeps him from team facilities.

Chances are a decision will be handed down to Peterson sooner rather than later. The Vikings (and public) will push for a decision if the process continues to drag on, but the likeliest scenario is they take the rest of this week and give their verdict by early next week – which would give Peterson just enough time to prepare for the Vikings’ Week 11 showdown with the Chicago Bears.

While we wouldn’t expect Peterson’s suspension to last any longer considering the outcome of the trial, you never know what Goodell has up his sleeve. Don’t be surprised if Peterson isn’t playing in Week 11.
