Predicting The Final Score Of Dallas Cowboys vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Few would have labeled Sunday’s meeting between the Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars as being important in terms of NFC East supremacy for Dallas just 10 days ago. However, the NFL is a”What have you done for me lately?” league, and the Cowboys haven’t done much, losing consecutive games in less than one calendar week.

After sitting at 6-1 and being at the center of the Super Bowl contender conversations, the team is now 6-3 and will view this clash with the Jaguars as a must-win if they hope to stay in the driver’s seat in the race for the NFC East crown.

The Cowboys are hoping to have starting quarterback Tony Romo available when they take the field at Wembley Stadium. Romo missed last week’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals due to two fractures in the transverse process in his back, and his status will be extremely important for this game’s outlook. Without him, there is a huge drop-off to backup Brandon Weeden, who performed horrifically in last week’s game.

However, with or without Romo, I believe the Cowboys are still primed to take over and win this game with their defense and strong running game. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles leads the NFL in interceptions, and he’s also turned the ball over at least once in every game he’s played in so far this season. That bodes well for the Dallas defense, which has nine interceptions and seven forced fumbles. Look for this number to grow in front of the London crowd.

Additionally, the Jaguars’ defense will have no answer for DeMarco Murray, who just had his record streak of 100-yard games to start the season snapped at eight. The Jaguars just gave up 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Jeremy Hill in a 10-point loss last week, so Murray must be salivating at the prospects of facing this defense.

Jacksonville has been able to hang with most opponents this season, and this trend will continue as I expect a conservative approach from both teams in what should be a low-scoring game. Of course, the conservative approach from Dallas will be a direct result of trying to protect an injured Romo or having the erratic Weeden under center. Conversely, Jacksonville will stay conservative in their approach to prevent a big mistake from Bortles.

Look for Dallas to still win this game based off talent alone, but I don’t think you’ll see a blowout as the ‘Boys will try their best to avoid any further injuries going into a much-needed bye week to get healthy.

Final score prediction: Cowboys 21, Jaguars 10
