The Miami Dolphins dropped a heartbreaker in Detroit, erasing all but the slimmest hopes of a playoff berth. Here are five takeaways from the game.

Tannehill was hit repeatedly but managed to keep getting back up. There were times during the game when it appeared the third-year QB was more likely to head to the locker room than back to the huddle, but somehow he found the will to get back out there and compete. Dolphins fans should be proud of their quarterback, even in defeat.

Wake made his presence felt early and often, registering two sacks on Matthew Stafford. He was also influential in pressuring the passer a number of times, forcing errant throws and opening up blitz lanes to the quarterback for his teammates. All indications point to another Pro Bowl season for Wake.

Megatron’s first quarter 49-yard touchdown reception proved that he is back. Brent Grimes played perfect coverage and still got beaten on the play. When healthy, nobody can cover Johnson, and today that was made brutally clear.

Two fake punts, a blocked field goal and back-to-back interceptions defined just how crazy this game was. Dion Jordan’s return on the blocked field goal that set up Miami’s third quarter touchdown changed the momentum and got the Dolphins back in the game.

Miami’s playoff hopes took a devastating blow with the loss of star tackle Branden Albert. Albert has been a stalwart presence on the line while defending Ryan Tannehill’s blindside, and if he is out for the year as it appears he will be, it does not bode well for the Dolphins moving forward.
