Sad news from the NFL, as former Minnesota Vikings safety Orlando Thomas has passed away at age 42. Thomas lost a seven-year battle with ALS.

His agent, Mark Bartelstein, issued these words to ESPN:

“Nobody’s ever fought a battle like Orlando fought, with so much dignity — I never saw anything like it. It’s just incredible. He never had a sense of self pity, never felt sorry for himself, he was always worried about everyone else. He was just the most incredible person I’ve ever been around.”

Thomas’ seven-year NFL career was highlighted by his league-leading nine interceptions during his rookie season (1995).

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends in this difficult time.
