The St. Louis Rams will host the Denver Broncos on Sunday in a 1:00 p.m. ET matchup. The Rams are currently in last place in the NFC West with a 3-6 record, while the Broncos lead the AFC West at 7-2 on the season. This game appears to be well in favor of the Broncos, but the Rams have shown this season that they are capable of pulling off upsets.
The Rams are coming off a division loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week. Although they had the lead at halftime, they couldn’t hold off the NFL’s top team. While their defense has performed decently this year, their offense has struggled. They are currently ranked 30th in the league and have yet to really establish an identity. RB Zac Stacy hasn’t performed up to his expectations thus far, splitting carries with Tre Mason who has given this team more of a spark on the ground. They will have the daunting task of going up against the league’s top-ranked rushing defense this week in a matchup that doesn’t look too promising. Austin Davis, who has taken over as the starting QB due to Sam Bradford’s disappointing injury prior to the start of the season, has definitely had his struggles thus far. But if the Rams are going to stay in the game this weekend, they will need to make some big plays through the air.
The Broncos are looking as strong as ever on both sides of the ball. Peyton Manning is having another career season, and RB Ronnie Hillman continues to be the perfect balance to Manning’s passing attack. They continue to be a very well-rounded team, which should propel them to yet another playoff berth and possibly even a Lombardi Trophy. They are coming off a dominating 41-17 win over the Oakland Raiders last week and I don’t see that momentum ending this week. I foresee the Broncos dominating in every phase of this game.
