“R-E-L-A-X.” That quote will go down in history as the turning point of the Green Bay Packers‘ season. Aaron Rodgers is playing a combination of Dan Marino, Peyton Manning and the Big Guy Upstairs Himself, and the Packers are easily the hottest team in the NFL.
Mark Sanchez and the Philadelphia Eagles entered Sunday’s matchup with some momentum of their own, having easily dispatched the Carolina Panthers last Monday night. Sunday afternoon seemed like a potential scoring explosion, except all the points came from one side. At the end of the first half, the Packers led 30-6 and the game was never particularly close after that. Green Bay has outscored opponents 128-9 in the first half of their last four games.
Green Bay’s weapons are coming together at the right time, led Sunday by the threesome of Randall Cobb, Eddie Lacy and Jordy Nelson. If they stay healthy, it’s hard to envision anyone keeping up with that high octane offense.
The Detroit Lions‘ loss to the Arizona Cardinals combined with the Packers’ win means Green Bay moves into a tie atop the NFC North divisional standings, though the Lions currently own the tiebreaker, having won their head-to-head showdown in Week 3.
Look across the league. The Cardinals own the best record and looked ready to blow out the Lions Sunday, but Drew Stanton’s interceptions kept that game closer than it had to be. The New England Patriots look really good, but they face a tough opponent in the Indianapolis Colts. Last year’s Super Bowl teams, the Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos, both lost in Week 11.
No team can boast such an impressive run as these Packers.
