On Sunday, the St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers will collide for the first time since the 2010 season. These navy-and-gold teams are both coming off Week 11 victories, although the Rams are riding a bigger momentum swing after defeating the mighty Denver Broncos. Here are five bold predictions for their Week 12 matchup.

5. Tavon Austin Will Score First TD of 2014

Austin hasn’t scored a touchdown since November 24 of 2013, so the electric possession receiver is about due to reach the end zone in Week 12. The Chargers boast the league’s sixth-ranked pass defense, but their attention will be directed more toward Kenny Britt and Lance Kendricks, giving Austin opportunities to burn them with his legs.

4. Shaun Hill Will Surpass 300 Yards

Hill isn’t known for lighting it up, but he is riding high after leading an offense that outscored Peyton Manning’s Broncos by 15 points. If the Rams are going to make any kind of run at a Wild Card spot, it will start with Hill’s performance this week. Austin will be his favorite target in this game.

3. Keenan Allen Will Have His Best Game of 2014

Allen has had a bit of a sophomore slump this season. Although he is the Chargers’ leading receiver, he’s averaging only 9.8 yards per reception and his last (and only) 100-yard game in 2014 was back in September. Expect him to break the slump against the Rams and put up at least 125 yards receiving and a score.

2. Janoris Jenkins Will Have Two Picks

After taking a Tony Romo pass back for a touchdown in Week 3, Jenkins has been pretty quiet on the statistics front. He’s recorded only three passes defended, the last of which came against the Seahawks a month ago. Like Allen, Jenkins will turn his play around in Week 12. He will take advantage of a struggling Philip Rivers, who has thrown only one touchdown and three interceptions in the past two games.

Dismantling the class of the AFC West will give the Rams that much more confidence as they travel to San Diego. If they can beat one of the league’s most potent offenses and suffocating defenses, then there is no reason why the Rams shouldn’t take care of business against the Chargers on Sunday.
