The Miami Dolphins have been one of the more surprising teams in the NFL this season, and they are currently in the thick of the playoff race. That said, there are still holes on the roster. Joe Philbin and company have the Dolphins playing very good football, but the 2015 class could put the team over the top. Without further ado, here is a way too early seven round mock draft for the Dolphins.

Round 1: Melvin Gordon, RB, Wisconsin

Lamar Miller has performed well this season, however, he isn’t meant to be used as a three-down workhorse. Melvin Gordon is having a record-breaking campaign for Wisconsin this season, and with a powerful running style, him and Miller would give the Dolphins a very dangerous 1-2 punch at the running back position.

Round 2: Carl Davis, DT, Iowa

Jared Odrick is likely on his way out in Miami, leaving the Dolphins with a huge void to fill along the defensive line. Carl Davis has the potential to be a special player, but he can be extremely inconsistent, and despite his size, Davis can be overpowered. With some development, however, Davis could become a dominant player.

Round 3: Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA

Dannell Ellerbe never met expectations in Miami, and has found himself on the IR this season, likely ending his Dolphins career. There is a big need for a consistent inside linebacker in Miami, and Eric Kendricks fits the bill. He’s a bit on the small side, but with tremendous instincts and quickness, Kendricks should be an immediate upgrade.

Round 4: Cam Thomas, CB, Western Kentucky

Brent Grimes has been fantastic for the Dolphins, however, he is getting older, and Cortland Finnegan has struggled at times on the other side. Cam Thomas has good length for the position, and he is very good in press coverage. He needs some work on his technique, but the raw talent here is undeniable.

Round 5: Trenton Brown, OT, Florida

Ja'Wuan James and Branden Albert give the Dolphins a good pair of bookend tackles, however, the depth behind them has proven to be suspect, as Albert was lost for the season. Trenton Browns has tremendous size and strength, and he has surprising athletic ability for a man of his size. In the fifth round, Brown is a steal.

Round 6: Maurice Falls, LB, East Carolina

The Dolphins need depth in their linebacking core, and with Maurice Falls likely to be available here, the Dolphins would be wise to pull the trigger on him. Falls doesn’t have big upside, but he presents little-risk for the team, and he would be a great addition in a backup role.

Round 7: David Andrews, C, Georgia

Samson Satele is only on a one-year deal, making the center position a need. David Andrews isn’t a great athlete, but his toughness and strength make him a possible starter.
