You thought the Seattle Seahawks‘ Week 11 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs was a tough game? Well, this week’s matchup with the Arizona Cardinals won’t be any easier.

Unfortunately for the defending Super Bowl champs, they ended up losing last week’s showdown with the Chiefs by a score of 24-20. If Seattle is going to have any shot at winning the NFC West, they’re going to have to start by defeating the first-place Cardinals this week. If they’re going to do so, quarterback Russell Wilson has to step up his play despite some ups and downs early this season.

You have to wonder if Percy Harvin being gone now is actually hurting Wilson. I know he wasn’t a big factor as a receiver, but he added a dimension that opposing teams had to specifically game plan for. Now Wilson has to figure out who his go-to receiver will be. Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse are guys who can make plays at times, but I’m not sure who the player is that Wilson relies on the most.

Wilson hasn’t looked awful this season, but it’s apparent that he is in fact a human and not perfect. Prior to last week’s game, Wilson struggled for three straight weeks against the likes of the Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders and New York Giants.

The good news for the Seahawks is that the Cardinals are vulnerable against the run, so running back Marshawn Lynch should have a big game. But that still means Wilson has to do his job and play a flawless game with this being a divisional battle. His completion percentage dipped and his interceptions went up during the three-game stretch where he struggled.

The good news is that Wilson bounced back last week against the Chiefs. IT will be interesting to see how he does this week in a huge divisional game.
