Weather Will Be Deciding Factor In Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Weather Could Be Factor in Raiders vs. Chiefs

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

If you’re the Oakland Raiders, then you could use any help you can get. As the Raiders get ready to face off AFC West rival, the Kansas City Chiefs in a couple of hours, weather conditions could be the deciding factor. The conditions in Oakland, Calif. are much safer than the ones in Buffalo right now, but instead of snow, it’s rain. It’s been a rainy day in Oakland for almost the entire day, and reports say that it will continue through the game.

Why will be this be a deciding factor? It will put a dent in the Chiefs’ running game and be a major problem for running back Jamaal Charles. Playing in wet conditions is always a problem for any team, but the Raiders have to take advantage of this every possible way they can. Everyone knows the Chiefs’ main offensive weapon is their run game, as it’s ranked fourth in the league.

The slippery conditions at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum could slow down Charles and the Chiefs tonight, but it’s up to the Raiders to take advantage. If the Chiefs’ running game is nowhere to be found, then they will have to rely in their passing game, which isn’t ideal right about now. Another statistic that seems to be haunting the Chiefs is their record against 0-10 teams. They are currently 0-3 when facing 0-10 teams dating back to 2000. It’s been a long time since that happened, but history has a habit of repeating itself.

Not only do the Chiefs have to deal with the thunderstorms looming above them — they have to deal with the “Black Hole”. This rivalry is always intense, and the Raider fans will make sure they get in the head of their arch enemy. If the Raiders use the weather to their advantage, then they actually have a shot in beating the Chiefs.

With the way the weather is looking in Oakland, don’t be surprised if you see lightning strike twice tonight.
