When the San Diego Chargers take the field this Sunday to play the St. Louis Rams, there is a lot at stake for these two teams' playoff hopes. Both are in tough divisions, and it's likely that both the Chargers and Rams will be playing for a chance at a wild card spot. There are a lot of statistics that NFL experts might point to that could decide this game. These are five under-the-radar keys to a Chargers win:

Lets face it, Charger fans can be easily swayed by both how the team is doing and by what other options are available in town when the Chargers aren't impressing them. A bad start in the game could send the fans at the stadium to the beach, as it is forecasted to be around 69 degrees on the coast Sunday. One just needs to look at Buffalo right now in terms of weather to see how appealing a 69-degree day in November is.

Weddle has been growing his beard since last season with the promise that he will not shave it until San Diego reaches the playoffs. The beard has literally taken a life of its own, as it has a Twitter handle now (@weddlesbeard). Weddle and the Chargers' defense will need to rely on the adage, "fear the beard." in the hopes that the Rams' Shawn Hill is either distracted by it when throwing deep, or flat out avoids it due to turnover worries.

3. Nick Novak's bladder

This game has a great chance of being a close one. Both teams come in with opposing strengths that could result in a one score game. The Chargers have been able to rely on Novak's leg for a while now, and can't afford him to be distracted by anything that could take his focus away from kicking at a crucial moment in the game. Considering the age of Qualcomm stadium, it might be time to invest in some upscale mobile bathrooms close to the field.

Both of these teams are rumored to be on a short list to move to Los Angeles in the near future. If the Chargers want a new stadium in San Diego, they better show why it's deserved. Making a deep playoff run could help cement that in their fans' minds -- fans that will possibly become potential voters on a stadium proposition. An embarrassing loss could have the opposite effect, pushing them closer to Los Angeles due to a general lack of empathy.

This one has some basis in reality. If the Chargers want to win they must protect Rivers and give him time to throw those patented deep out routes that he has gashed NFL defenses with throughout his career. The Rams have had a knack for sacking the opposing teams quarterback this year, and if that continues this game, San Diego fans may see Kellen Clemens at some point. That's not good.
