Bill Belichick is not a warm, cuddly guy. Just ask Wes Welker. The New England Patriots know this about their head coach by now, and newest addition LeGarrette Blount should have no illusions about whether he will be guaranteed playing time down the road.

If Jonas Gray has anything to say about it, Blount might be riding the pine for most of this season. However, the former Pittsburgh Steelers player did sign a two-year contract, which means this move could have been more about future depth than any chance of postseason playing time.

Gray carried 37 times for 201 rushing yards and four touchdowns against the Indianapolis Colts this weekend and earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. That certainly helped solidify has status. Blount, on the other hand, walked off of the field before the game was over during his former team’s victory over the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. That action caused the Steelers to release him on Tuesday.

He will have to check his attitude at the door in Foxborough because Belichick doesn’t play that junk. Blount will be out of the league quite quickly if he pulls any more stunts this season comparable to Monday night’s fiasco. That said, one thing is an absolute fact: the Patriots’ depth makes them favorites to take home the Super Bowl.
