New York Jets Should Sign Cleveland Browns’ Savior Brian Hoyer

The Cleveland Browns had no franchise quarterback for over a decade. Now they have two at the same time.

Brian Hoyer was a pleasant surprise for the Browns this year. Despite throwing a pair of interceptions today, Hoyer led the Browns to a clutch victory against the Atlanta Falcons. If he keeps playing like this, a big contract extension is going to be on his mind. With cap-friendly Johnny Manziel waiting to be unleashed, the Browns will most likely let Hoyer walk. The quarterback-needy New York Jets should be the first team to jump at signing Hoyer.

The Jets possibly have the worst quarterback duo in the NFL. Geno Smith can’t seem to make his transition from college correctly. Even though he has a year of NFL experience, that doesn’t mean he will ever transition properly. Michael Vick looks like his typical turnover-prone self. He is also climbing up the ladder of aging quarterbacks. The Jets should waive Vick and Smith at the end of the year and look to free agency for a quarterback.

Woody Johnson and the Jets organization have a win-now mentality. I could see the Jets not willing to waste another draft pick on a rookie quarterback that has to learn the ropes and has a possibility of being a bust. They have never drafted well and the trend seems as if it is continuing year by year. Signing a veteran is their best bet for success. They are a couple pieces away from becoming a serious contender. Hoyer would be the best quick fix on the market.

Hoyer would love to come to the Jets simply because they will give him the kind of contract he is looking for. The possibilities are endless for him. There are more weapons for him in New York than in Cleveland. Hoyer is working with average wide receivers at the moment and still managing to pull out wins. Imagine him throwing to playmakers like Eric Decker and Percy Harvin?

The 2015 NFL Draft could be very bright for the Jets, but not at the quarterback position. The Jets should address one of their many other issues on defense instead.
