The Arizona Cardinals might have the best record in the NFC right now, but as the team showed in Week 12, there are plenty of holes to fill on the roster. The Cardinals are certainly contenders, but there are a few pieces they need to add before they’re really Super Bowl-caliber. With that said, here is a way-too-early mock draft for the Cardinals.

Larry Foote has been a pleasant surprise this season for the Cardinals, but he’s just not the long-term answer for the team. With Daryl Washington set to return in 2015, pairing him with a dynamic linebacking talent like Benardrick McKinney would give the Cardinals a dominant combination. McKinney’s athletic ability plus Washington’s instincts and experience would give the Cardinals a great linebacking corps.

Round Two: Tre’ Jackson, OG, Florida State

The Cardinals’ interior line play hasn’t been great this season, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that the team needs to add talent at guard especially. Former No. 7 overall pick Jonathan Cooper hasn’t played much this season, but if he can get back on track, pairing him with Tre’ Jackson would give Arizona two very good young guards to build around.

Round Three: Jeremy Langford, RB, Michigan State

Andre Ellington has been a massive disappointment this season as the Cardinals’ feature back, but if the team were to pair him with a power runner like Jeremy Langford, things could really start to look up for Arizona’s running game. Langford isn’t a game-breaker like Ellington could be, but his hard-nosed style makes him a good fit for the Cardinals’ offense.

Round Four: Jake Smith, C, Louisville

The Cardinals’ interior offensive line hasn’t played well this season, and center Lyle Sendlein is a big part of the problem. By bringing in Jake Smith, the Cardinals are getting a tough, polished center that will step in right away and be effective.

Round Five: Quandre Diggs, CB, Texas

Texas has churned out some talented defensive backs in the past few years in guys like Earl Thomas and Kenny Vaccaro, and while Quandre Diggs isn’t quite on their level as a player, he is a future starter. With a ton of experience and polish, Diggs could begin his career as a situational player and eventually work his way into a starting spot.

Round Six: Matt Robinson, OLB, Maryland

The Cardinals could use help in the pass-rushing department, and while Matt Robinson won’t immediately fix the team’s problems, he will give them a viable pass-rushing linebacker. Robinson has good speed and agility, but he remains raw. That said, as a situational pass-rusher, he would be a steal in the sixth round.

Round Seven: Jeffrey Whitaker, DT, Auburn

Dan Williams is one of the best nose tackles in the NFL, but the depth behind him is questionable at best. In Jeffrey Whitaker, the Cardinals would be getting a tough, dependable player that could fill in for an extended period of time if Williams were to get hurt.
