This Sunday, the New England Patriots (9-2) meet up with the Green Bay Packers (8-3). This is one of the most anticipated matchups of the year, with both teams considered to be among the best in the league. Here are five bold predictions of what is going to happen between these two NFL elites.

Some may argue this prediction isn’t all that bold. The Patriots are 9-2 and by far the hottest team in the league. The Packers are 8-3 and the only team near the Patriots in terms of momentum. However, with the amount of balance in the NFL right now, I would say that any Super Bowl prediction is a bold one. Both of these teams have the balance and talent to make a run all the way to the Super Bowl.

The Patriots are known as a team that always deploys the hot hand when it comes to their backfield. Against the Packers, that hot hand looks like it could be LeGarrette Blount. Last week, Blount got a lot of the snaps at RB in his first game back in New England. And against Green Bay, he gets to go up against a defense that allows 136.7 rushing yards a game, 30th in the league. If the Packers try to limit Tom Brady, watch out for Blount.

Between Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, the Packers have quite possibly the most explosive WR duo in the league. But the Patriots, bolstered by a secondary that added Darelle Revis and Brandon Browner, have been toughest on WRs this year out of any aspect of their defense. They have only allowed seven touchdowns to receivers on the year. Rodgers will need to look for TE Andrew Quarless and RB Eddie Lacy more than usual as a way to score points.

Sometimes sheer offensive power beats a decent defense, and that’s what is going to happen in this matchup. The fact is, the Packers and Patriots have the two highest scoring offenses in the entire league and are both in the top 10 in yards per game. As much as these great coaching staffs will game plan for these offenses and try and limit Brady and Rodgers, these offenses will find a way to put up huge point totals between them.

The Packers are one of the best teams in the league, talented everywhere on the field. But the Patriots are simply playing on a different level right now. Despite a lack of big-name weapons at the skill positions, they are still finding ways to post great games against quality teams, and I expect that to continue. In the first meeting between these two great quarterbacks since they have both been starters, I expect the Patriots to win, 38-35.
