Kyle Orton Is Key To Buffalo Bills Win Over Cleveland Browns

Bills QB

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills won big over the New York Jets in Week12, but they are still three games behind the New England Patriots in the AFC East. The Bills face a huge matchup with the Cleveland Browns next, because both teams are in the hunt for an AFC Wild Card playoff berth. The Bills’ defense has been getting it done as of late, but it’s their quarterback, Kyle Orton, who will make or break Buffalo on Sunday.

Orton hasn’t thrown an interception in four games, but the team has lost two of those games. This statistic shows that Orton doesn’t take big chances, even when the game is on the line. He’s going to have to air out the ball against the Browns’ shaky pass defense or the team will be extremely one dimensional. If the corners and safeties have no fear of the deep ball, they can play in the box and stuff Anthony Dixon, Bryce Brown and Fred Jackson in the run.

The 10-year quarterback has two extremely talented young receivers in Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins who are more than capable of making huge catches down the field. It’s Orton’s job to be efficient and avoid making costly errors, but with the Browns’ offense looking far more potent than expected, he will have to get the ball into the end zone for Buffalo to win.

Orton has only thrown three total touchdowns in the team’s losses, so his play is the key factor if the Bills are to crush the Browns on Sunday and take another step towards their playoff hopes.
