When the game was actually competitive, the Detroit running game didn't do much as Joique Bell ran for 43 yards. On the final drive when the Bears were clearly mailing it in, Bell ran for 48 yards. Theo Riddick continued to be a weapon in the passing game, catching six passes for 54 yards.

After a strip-sack by Jared Allen in the first quarter, the offensive line dominated Chicago up front. The line struggled to open running lanes, but the pass protection was excellent for Stafford in the final three quarters.

Detroit's defensive line got off to a slow start against Chicago, but finished strong. Ezekiel Ansah was in Chicago's backfield all day and finished with a sack. The defensive line also limited Chicago's running game to just 1.6 yards per rush.

A major reason why the Bears were limited in the running game was due to the linebackers. DeAndre Levy finished with 10 tackles while Tahir Whitehead added eight. The linebackers struggled a bit in coverage, but not enough to affect the outcome of the game.

Outside of two short touchdown passes, the Detroit secondary held Chicago's passing attack in check. Darius Slay recorded eight tackles and three pass defenses while Glover Quin and James Ihedigbo each recorded interceptions.

Detroit's kicking game was solid while the return game was not. Matt Prater made both of his field goal attempts and Sam Martin averaged 51 yards per punt. Jeremy Ross was indecisive on his returns and inexplicably took the ball deep out of his own end zone on the first return, and was stopped on the 13-yard line.
