While there are a few players who are worthy of being named the 2014 NFL MVP, there’s no doubt in my mind that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the front-runner heading into Week 14.

Rodgers walked away with two of his lowest quarterbacks ratings at the beginning of the season, which led to a 1-2 start.  In turn, fans started to panic a little, but Rodgers calmly told everyone to “relax.” Since then, Rodgers and the Packers have gone out and won eight of their last nine games, and just defeated the New England Patriots this past Sunday at Lambeau Field as Rodgers threw for 368 yards and two touchdowns.

What’s truly remarkable about Rodgers this season is that he’s on pace to throw for almost 4,500 yards, 42 touchdowns and four interceptions. Those would be some staggering numbers, especially when you look at how well he’s protected the football. He’s only thrown three interceptions this season to go along with 32 touchdowns. Rodgers is averaging one interception for every four games. I honestly can’t remember the last time a quarterback threw the ball so much and committed such a minimal number of turnovers.

Rodgers is currently the highest-rated quarterback in the NFL with a 118.6 rating through the first 13 weeks of the season. I think it’s safe to say that the Packers will only go as far as Rodgers takes them at this point. Their defense has played very well lately and they can move the ball on the ground, but just like every other season, everything falls on the shoulders of Rodgers.

When everything is all said and done, I’m not sure how Rodgers could be overlooked as being the front-runner for this year’s MVP award with the way he’s dominated over the course of this season.
