With Rex Ryan seemingly on the way out in New York, many teams will likely call the established coach to be their defensive coordinator in 2014. These five teams currently run a 3-4 scheme and are in need of a new defensive coordinator.

One of the youngest and most talented defenses in the NFL is the San Diego Chargers. After drafting future studs in Jason Verrett, Jeremiah Attaochu and Kendall Reyes over the past few years to go with established veterans like Eric Weddle and Brandon Flowers, the Chargers have the ability to be a top 10 defense next year. The only thing they're missing a defensive coach who gets the best out of his players.

The Atlanta Falcons have the worst defense in the NFL. To make matters worse, the only players on this defense worth talking about are Marcus Trufant and Paul Worrilow. Besides those two guys, all of these starters aren't cutting it. To woo in Rex, the Falcons would have to pay a ton of money, but for a defensive coach of his caliber, he would be worth it.

Another team that has all of the pieces is the Green Bay Packers, but this team is the least likely of Ryan's destinations due to the presence of Dom Capers and the career he's had. Despite Capers' success, the Packers have been a below-average defense over the past few years. If the Packers want their defense to improve, bringing in Rex would be the right decision.

Robert Mathis will come back in 2015 to aid this defense and help D'Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman. The Indianapolis Colts have a star cornerback in Vontae Davis, and they have a nice young pass rusher in Bjoern Werner. For this defensive unit to be elite, they will need to get better play from their secondary. Ryan will have a variety ways to get to the quarterback which could make this defense elite.

After drafting Justin Gilbert and Barkevious Mingo in 2014 and 2013, respectively, the Cleveland Browns are building an excellent defense. The Browns have proven players in Joe Haden, Ahtyba Rubin, Karlos Dansby and Paul Kruger. Tashaun Gipson also leads the NFL this season in interceptions. With all of that being said, this unit could easily be a top-five defense if Ryan is the coordinator.
