Tony Romo is Key To A Dallas Cowboys Victory Over Chicago Bears

Tony Romo Key To Cowboys Week 14 Victory

In order for the Dallas Cowboys to rebound from a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving and defeat the Chicago Bears this Thursday night, Tony Romo needs to step up and play well in a game that will likely be contested in near freezing conditions.

As Romo goes, so do the Cowboys. In their three losses with him at quarterback, he has thrown only two touchdowns against five interceptions. In his two games prior to last week, he had thrown seven touchdowns in two games against the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants with no interceptions and looked to be playing well heading into a home matchup against an Eagles team allowing the fourth-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks.

That’s when the wheels fell off. In a game that the Cowboys mostly played from behind, he still managed only 199 passing yards and no touchdowns to go with two interceptions. He was sacked four times and turned in one of his poorest performances of the season.

This Thursday, he has a chance to redeem himself. The defense of the Bears is even worse than the Eagles, allowing the most passing touchdowns in the NFL (27) while allowing the third-most passing yards (3,426). Perhaps with the pressure of playing at home and on a national holiday off his shoulders he will revert to the Tony Romo of the previous two games.

One thing is for certain. If the Cowboys want to get a key road victory this Thursday night against the Bears, the key to their victory is going to have to be a return to form for Tony Romo.
