Jerry Reese has had a very positive tenure with the New York Giants. He has two Super Bowls under his belt, however, some of his recent draft choices are coming back to haunt the team and may call for his job. He may be the whole entire reason the Giants are as bad as they are today.

The Giants are having their worst season in almost more than a decade. They haven’t been this bad in years, and someone has to get the blame. The most logical thing for the Giants to do is to get rid of Reese. An NFL team’s success is mostly due to good decisions by a general manager — a general manager is in charge if drafting, picking a new coach, and many other important aspects of a franchise. Unless you’re Bill Belichick, you can’t make your team good forever.

The number of Giants drafted by Reese who were major contributors is very small. Some of the good choices Reese has made are Ahmad Bradshaw, Jason Pierre-Paul, Will Beatty and rookie Odell Beckham Jr. Besides those players, Reese has had miss after miss. Players who left after their rookie contracts expire can’t really count, because they only contributed for a small amount of time.

John Mara has a big decision to make when it comes to Reese. A good general manager is very hard to find, and if there is no one to the Giants’ liking, Reese may stay until a proper candidate surfaces. The Giants are not a team that makes rash decisions at the drop of a hat. Whoever they hire, they hire for multiple years and stick with their choice.
