The Washington Redskins have been one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that another rebuilding effort is in the works. Expect the Redskins to make changes this offseason as they try to return to the greatness they once had. Obviously, big changes are coming in Washington, and here are 10 moves they must make.

10. Let Brian Orakpo and Tyler Polumbus Walk

Two of the most disappointing players in Washington are guys who were expected to be very solid performers. Brian Orakpo and Tyler Polumbus have both struggled at their respective positions, and Orakpo in particular has once again fallen victim to injuries. These two haven’t met expectations and they should be allowed to walk this offseason.

He hasn’t been great, but Colt McCoy has proven capable of moving the Redskins' offense. Sure, he’s not the long-term answer, but McCoy deserves a chance to compete for the starting gig in 2015.

8. Release Stephen Bowen

A mediocre defensive linemen who doesn’t play consistently enough, Stephen Bowen will likely find himself looking for a new home in 2015. Releasing Bowen would save the Redskins $ 5.5 million, making this an easy decision for the team.

With a roster devoid of talent at key spots, Bruce Allen has proven incapable of building a good team in Washington. Simply put, the man is overwhelmed in his current position, and the Redskins need to move on.

Ryan Kerrigan has become the Redskins' best defensive player, and one of the best pure pass-rushers in the NFL. As the only truly elite player the Redskins have on defense, the team needs to make sure Kerrigan stays in Washington for the long-term. With his contract set to expire after 2015, the Redskins need to sign Kerrigan to a multi-year extension.

5. Sign Jermaine Gresham In Free Agency

Jordan Reed has shown flashes in his young NFL career, but he is too injury-prone for the Redskins to rely upon him. Jermaine Gresham never became the star the Bengals thought he could be, but he already knows coach Gruden’s system and he would provide the Redskins with a solid blocker and decent receiver.

4. Sign Another Veteran QB

The Redskins need to bring in another veteran quarterback to compete for the starting job in 2015. It’s not a particularly strong free-agent class as far as quarterbacks are concerned, but if the Redskins can bring in a Brian Hoyer-type as a stopgap, they can find a better long-term solution in the 2016 draft.

Although the Redskins' offensive tackles have received plenty of the blame for the team’s poor performance in the trenches, the interior line is just as mediocre. With a few solid guards likely to be available in free agency, the Redskins should bring one aboard.

2. Fire Jim Haslett

Washington has been awful on the defensive side of the ball at times this season, and Jim Haslett has found himself fallen out of favor with the players. The results aren’t good enough for Haslett to deserve another chance to prove himself.

1. Trade Robert Griffin III

It’s become clear this season that Robert Griffin III isn’t the answer for the Redskins. Griffin’s relationship with the team is probably damaged beyond repair, so if the team can even get a mid-round pick in exchange for his services, they should take the deal.
