In what was largely a very ugly game, the New York Giants came away with their third consecutive win when they downed the St. Louis Rams 37-27. The Rams knew they had to stop Odell Beckham Jr., and it appeared they did everything they could to stop him – including what may or may not have been some targeting. Nonetheless, Beckham and the Giants' offense throttled the Rams’ defense for their most points and yards allowed all season.

Andre Williams carried the ball 26 times for 110 yards, including a 45-yard run that featured him trucking a defensive back. In the absence of Rashad Jennings, Williams has had to handle the majority of the carries, and unlike his performances earlier in the season, he’s showing poise and patience while carrying the ball. He’s not a burner, but his ability to occasionally break out a big run is encouraging.

With Jason Pierre-Paul hitting free agency, the Giants may want to see what they have in case he doesn’t re-sign. Kerry Wynn, the UFA who’s playing in his third game, hit the trifecta for a defensive player – a sack, a fumble recovery and an INT. For a defensive lineman, that’s impressive. He’s been getting some playing time lately, especially after Damontre Moore was ejected in the first half; Wynn was given plenty of opportunities to show off.

It’s tough to remember a time when the Giants last had a good special teams unit. Against the Rams, who are pretty good on ST, the Giants allowed a blocked field goal and surrendered 61 yards on three Tavon Austin punt returns. Each time they punted, there was a good chance Austin would take it all the way back. There are some encouraging signs from the Giants’ team as a whole as the season concludes, but special teams aren’t one of them.

This has been pretty clear for a while now, but a little emphasis can’t hurt. Eli Manning threw for 391 yards with three touchdowns, no picks, 11.7 yards per attempt, and completed 78.1 percent of his passes. The yards, yards per attempt, and completion percentage are all season highs. His offensive line recorded a few holding penalties, but they kept the Rams' vaunted pass rush to one sack. When he has that security, he can do great things.

There's just no stopping this kid. He has eight consecutive games of 90 receiving yards, and three consecutive games of 130. He’s Manning's favorite target, and with good reason. Beckham added eight receptions, 148 yards, and two touchdowns to his season totals of 79, 1120 and 11. Gregg Williams’ defense seemed to take a few cheap shots at Beckham, but there was still nothing they could do to keep him away from the ball.
