The Dallas Cowboys have a lot to be excited about after taking control of the NFC East, but what should they request for a Christmas present?
How about a healthy DeMarco Murray? There is certainly much they can be glad of after a stellar 2014 season so far from their running back, but he has broken down a little bit near the end. It is anticipated that he will return on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, and that would be huge for Dallas.
Tony Romo has been dependable in a way that fans never could have imagined this year, and the Cowboys have a legitimate playoff shot after the Washington Redskins dealt the Philadelphia Eagles a serious blow on Saturday night. The bottom line is that the NFC East is open for the Cowboys to take. Whether they will seize the opportunity remains to be seen, but should Dallas be considered favorites within their conference?
I still say no. This is a team with some major history behind losing crucial games, and even if Romo looks on point, they could still lose a matchup against an elite contender. Do you really see them matching up well against the Green Bay Packers or Seattle Seahawks? I do not, but the Cowboys have shown enough grit that they could keep any playoff game fairly close. This does not mean Dallas is a contender, but Murray coming back would be a great Christmas gift.
We will have to see how things play out in the postseason, and Jerry Jones will certainly be rooting for a victorious outcome when it concerns Dallas. Whether Murray will be healthy when the football becomes most important matters a lot, and Romo’s legacy will be colored black or white depending on how close to a Super Bowl they advance.
