Cleveland Browns Must Get Rid of Josh Gordon

The Cleveland Browns are not happy with how their 2014 season turned out. Despite showing plenty of potential at times over the past 17 weeks, specific players who were supposed to headline the team instead added to the mockery that is the franchise. Specifically, wide receiver Josh Gordon has done nothing but cause problems, which is exactly why the Browns must find a way to get rid of him.

Several people within the organization have reportedly stated Gordon has to be let go. One of the biggest reasons is because he is more harmful than good on and off the field. He is essentially a locker room parasite who fails to produce at a high level when he sees playing time. It would be one thing if he performed well on the field and helped lead the team to victory, but since he has not even done that this season, it gives the Browns more reason to want to see him traded or flat-out released. Not to mention, the image he sets for the younger players could lead to a continuing problem for the organization or years to come.

Cleveland’s offense has actually performed worse since Gordon re-joined the team after his suspension, which gives the organization even more firepower to get the greenlight to get him off the roster. Unfortunately, the Browns ownership thinks Gordon is someone who is essential to the financial and football success of the franchise going forward. Still, the issues he caused in 2014 should be enough reason for ownership to cave to management.

To make matters worse for Cleveland, rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel is proving his critics correct with his latest antics. His recent partying that led to him not showing up for Saturday’s walk-through clearly shows he is not mature enough to lead a football team. Even though he vowed to improve his game ten-fold in 2015, he has shown no reason for the Browns to believe it is possible. For that reason, Cleveland has a huge decision to make regarding free agent Brian Hoyer in the offseason.
