The Monday after the regular season ends typically spells doom for several NFL coaches and executives who were on the hot seat during the season. That has not changed this year as five big NFL names have already lost their jobs. Check out which head coaches and general managers will not be back with their team in 2015.

The San Francisco 49ers decided to part ways with head coach Jim Harbaugh well before the season concluded, even if no one will admit it. What is called a mutual parting is really San Francisco’s ownership wanting to go in a new direction. It’s all good for Harbaugh, though, as the University of Michigan will announce his hiring as their new head coach on Tuesday.

Chicago Bears fans can have a sigh of relief after it was announced Monday morning that GM Phil Emery would not be back in 2015. Emery is the man who gave quarterback Jay Cutler elite money to essentially have the worst season of his career. He also fired defensive-minded coach Lovie Smith and replaced him with offensive-minded coach Marc Trestman. The defense got worse and the offense didn’t improve.

Another laughable GM is John Idzik, who got fired by New York Jets owner Woody Johnson. Idzik made more boneheaded moves than anyone can count, such as giving Rex Ryan nothing to work with in a defining season. Geno Smith is not a starting quarterback, the offensive line still has issues and the defense is a shell of what it used to be. Idzik should never be allowed to work for an NFL team for the rest of his career after the atrocity he created.

After reaching the NFC Championship Game in 2012, Mike Smith posted back-to-back disappointing seasons, which is why Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank has decided to go in a new direction. Smith is the winningest coach in franchise history, but his 1-4 playoff record speaks for itself. The inability to win the big games is what ultimately cost him his job. The embarrassing season finale this year basically sums it up.

2. Rex Ryan

Johnson giving Ryan another chance after winning the regular season finale in 2013 was generous, but in reality, Ryan should have been fired last season. A coach with more confidence than he knew what to do with, Ryan led the struggling Jets to two straight AFC Championship berths. But, that was several years ago. Not doing much since then is why he will be looking for a new employment opportunity in the offseason.

To the surprise of no one, the Bears fired Marc Trestman after he led the team to one of the most embarrassing seasons in franchise history. The mess Emery and Trestman left in Chicago will set the organization back for several years to come, especially in a division with three quality teams. Trestman was never able to get his offensive philosophy at a level for Cutler and Co. to succeed, which is the main reason he was let go.
