The New York Jets have much to work on over the next few months. Besides coaching, quarterback and overall identity issues, the Jets are in dire need of quality when it comes to their cornerback situation. If the Jets learned anything last offseason, it’s that they absolutely can’t make the same mistakes again and let quality options literally walk out the door.

They must be aggressive in actively pursuing top talent to help bolster one of the biggest weaknesses on the team. In 2014, The Jets were one of the worst teams when it came to stopping the run or defending against passes. They tried to fix these issues via draft picks. but both Dexter McDougle and Dee Milliner will be coming off of injury heading into 2015. There is no guarantee they will be good or even healthy enough to last a full season without any issues.

Since the Jets made sure to save salary cap space for 2015, it’s imperative that they use it for a top cornerback or two via free agency. While many would love to see a reunion between the Jets and Darrelle Revis, the truth of the matter is that he’ll most likely stay with the New England Patriots.

Kareem Jackson, Brandon Flowers and Bradley Fletcher are all among some other top options the Jets should pursue. Unfortunately, no top cornerbacks are really worth investing a first-round pick in or more when it comes to the 2015 NFL Draft. This is an immediate area of need, and the Jets can’t drop the ball again.
