Since the Lions selected Ndamukong Suh No. 2 overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, the defensive lineman has been fined seven times and suspended twice by the NFL for player-safety violations. Suh is widely regarded as the dirtiest player in the league and his stepping on Aaron Rodgers’ injured leg in the Lions’ Week 17 Loss to the Packers just adds another dirty play to his resume. Here are Suh’s worst suspensions and fines of his career.

In the Lions’ Week 12 loss in 2013 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Suh tackled Bobby Rainey for a three-yard loss. A fired-up Suh got up on his feet and made a throat-slash gesture, an action that was banned by the NFL in 1999. Suh was fined $7,875.

This is the only play on the list where it is questionable if Suh did it on purpose or not. He has being dragged to the ground and his leg swung up and kicked quarterback Matt Schaub in the groin. Suh had gained his reputation for “dirty” and unsportsmanlike plays by this point, so he was not given the benefit of doubt and was fined $30,000.

Before Ndamukong Suh had even played a regular season snap in the NFL, he was not treating quarterbacks in a manner the NFL saw fit. During an exhibition game in Suh’s rookie 2010 season, he first grabbed Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme by the facemask and then brutally slammed him to the ground. Suh was fined $7,500, and it was just the beginning for the young Lions defensive tackle.

During a DeAndre Levy pick-six return against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 of the 2013 season, Suh hit an unsuspecting John Sullivan with a low block. This type of block around the knees is extremely dangerous and considered a dirty play around the NFL. Suh was fined $100,000, the largest fine ever issued to a player for an on-the-field action.

The most recent incident involving Suh is also thus far the most detrimental to his team. During the NFC North battle between the Lions and Packers on Sunday, Suh stepped back on Rodgers’ injured ankle and then took another step back, putting all of his weight down on the quarterback. The NFL suspended Suh for one game, but an appeal overturned the decision, resulting in Suh being slapped with a $70,000 fine.

During the third quarter of the Lions’ Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers in 2011, Suh pushed Packers’ lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith’s head into the ground three times after the whistle, then ferociously stomped on his arm. Roger Goodell and the NFL suspended Suh for two games without pay.
