The New England Patriots might look like a Super Bowl contender to many of our readers out there, but will they be able win it all come February? Not so fast. These boys aren't good enough for their expectations quite yet, and Tom Brady might be too slow and old to thrive on the big stage anymore. Here are five reasons the Patriots will meet defeat in the playoffs.

Most folks probably remember the surge from Tom Brady after the season's first month, but he also started and finished off the year in lackluster fashion. Of course, having Rob Gronkowski healthy is a huge advantage, and anything is possible with the TE fully functional.

The Patriots rested Rob Gronkowski in the season's last week, and it is hard to blame them. They had already clinched home field throughout the AFC's playoffs, which means they only had something to lose by playing Gronk. It would not surprise me to see him get hurt during their next game due to recent history.

Bill Belichick remained on top of his game throughout the regular season, but his track record in the postseason has been shaky lately. We have not seen the last of him, however, the finish line could be nearing for Belichick.

Darrelle Revis looks like the perfect marriage to this defense, but there are just not enough studs in the trenches for New England to be effective on that side of the ball. Revis could end up watching a lot of plays being made around him while the Patriots get eliminated.

Would an Aaron Hernandez mention be too out of line at this time? It probably is, but his arrest must be acknowledged along with the loss of Wes Welker over basically an ego clash. The wide receiver's concussion issues as of late in Denver are alarming, and you have to wonder whether he would have been better off in New England. The Patriots have simply lost a lot of weapons in the last couple seasons, and it might be too much to overcome.
